I was shopping online the last week and came across some great deals on wholesale jewelry on the internet. Then when I scrolled down the web page I read how California retailers have to adhere to proposition 65 warnings. They had to let their customers know that their jewelry contained chemicals and elements that have been known to cause cancer and birth defects.

The website also warned people to wash hands after handling their jewelry. Also, the website said to keep their products away from small children and infants. Certainly do not let them suck on it or eat it. Adults so refrain from the same practices. Now I do not wear jewelry let alone eat it. I was simply looking for gifts.

Now I am thinking twice about giving jewelry as a gift. Or do I only have to worry in California? Do I have to tell my receiver of my gift to wash her hands after handling it? Do I have to warn them not to let their kids eat it? Or do I only have to point out the tag with the proposition 65 warning and let them worry about the rest?

This proposition applies to California retailers. So does this mean I can buy jewelry in Nevada and not worry about cancer causing agents? Or can I give Nevada jewelry as gifts and have no worry about warning anyone about my gift Well jewelry is jewelry. The industry has been making jewelry the same way for centuries. I doubt if California is the only state where jewelry can cause cancer.

Does anyone pay attention to these warnings? Do you pay attention to such warnings? If I gave you a wrist bracelet for Christmas with a California 65 tag on it would you not accept it, if you liked the bracelet? Chances are you would wear the bracelet.

But how do the agents cause cancer? Does the state have proof that wearing jewelry causes cancer? And what about states that do not have such legal requirements, do those states simply think let our population find out the hard way that the ring they are wearing will make them sick. Jewelry has been made the same for centuries.

Lead has been part of the jewelry making process for a long time. Has anyone gotten sick with wearing lead around their neck or their finger or on their ears? Who can really say? But if it was not for California proposition 65 probably most people who buy and wear jewelry would not give it a second thought. But at least with this proposition people in California at least can decide for themselves if they want to wear jewelry that comes with a label suggesting you wash your hands after handling it.

If you are considering giving jewelry as a present you can make up your mind if you want to tell the person about the proposition 65 warnings. Or you can simply point out the tag if it has one. And I might not have been able to make this choice if I had not gone online looking for wholesale jewelry and reading about proposition 65.

I was looking for Wholesale Jewelry and Wholesale handbags on the net recently and I came across a website that had a California proposition 65 warning. It stated the warning was in accordance with the proposition rules.
